"Slanty Shanty" no more!

Some of you may have noticed a major dip in our floor near the angled wall on the living room side of the kitchen. Well, when we put our wood flooring in we repaired it...or so we thought. It returned a few months after and we couldn't figure out what was going on. Our house is 10 years old, it can't still be "settling". So one day Tucker decided to investigate and it turns out that the entire weight of the midsection of the house was on ONE 2x4 POST! The 2 x 4 next to it had no weight on it. He could wiggle it while the one next to it was close to splitting. When Tucker's dad was here for Thanksgiving we showed him what we had found. With his background in construction he expressed to us how dangerous this is. So Tucker ordered some floor jacks and Richard came up last weekend to help us install. Here are some pictures.

We were able to notice a improvement almost immediately. Whenever anyone was walking around the floor used to shake. I just thought it was cheap construction but it wasn't. It was shotty construction. The floor feels so much more sturdy now.
